Should kids have cell phones essay

Well I have to say that what I am about to say may sound a little crazy, but I don’t believe a child needs a cell phone untill they are driving. My teens are 12, 16, & 18 and the only one that has a phone is the 18 year old and he got on his 18th birthday it is a prepaid phone that he has to pay for the minutes when he wants to use it, so no money no phone. Let me tell you my kids may get a little flack sometimes from their friends, but for the most part they are no worse for the ware. I saw the other day what seemed to be a 5 year old with a smart phone, I wonder what that child will think they are entitled to when they are a teen. I think sometimes parents are to quick to give in to their children just so they can fit in. The word is NO guys and it is so easy to say. I know some may say that there are times when a child needs a phone, well lets think about that for a minute, ok at school well as mentioned before calls can be made from the office and if there is a real emergency the teacher will let your child use their phone and just think they will get first dibs cause they are the only one without a phone. When they are at a friends house, I am sure that the parent will have a phone they can use or the friend will. Lets be honest with ourselves, kids these days rarely use there phones to make calls, they use them to text, snapchat, instagram but not talk. Let me tell you this can all be done on a tablet ( with a downloded app), no monthly fee, cheeper than an IPhone and with the right app and earphones can even use them to make a call. I know this was a long post, but this is a subject I feel srongly about. Thanks

“Let People Dial While Driving” written by
Katherine Mangu-Ward is all but intelligent. Is she really thinking? My daughter, Diane, was born few months ago. One morning i drove with her to the post office for applying for a passport. It was a happy moment: the start of a new driving back home a car almost crashed ours. The driver, a woman, was simply using her phone. She did not see and stop for the stop sign … Only my vigilance saved the life (and the future!) of my 2 month old baby. I am still very angry while thinking about this event. The life of my baby versus the right of a reckless driver to make a phone call? How important was that phone call? (”honey, what would you like to eat tonight?”) We shoud be committed to forbid the use of phones while driving. Drivers can still park for few minutes and make a phone call. At last, i believe that Katherine Mangu-Ward
misused data on death related accidents. I believe that the rate of death related accident did not climb because now most of the drivers are using their seat belt and because recent technologies made cars so much safer …

Nancy Smith-Marvin - My experience is different. Although I certainly agree with guests staying out of the way of the photographer, I have to thank the guests for the pictures they took because they are the only ones I have of my family. My son hired a photographer that was new to shooting weddings. She took beautiful engagement photos. When it came to the wedding, she took over 500 photos and I (the mother of the groom) was in 4. My husband (step dad of 10 years) was in 1. My sons father and his wife were in 7 photos. The photographer took over 70 family photos of all the brides side and only 5 of the grooms father’s side and zero of my side. There were approximately 350 photos of guests dancing and drinking. Only 10 photos of the bride and groom with the cake.
My message to all photographers shooting a wedding…….. DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND FIND OUT WHO THE PARENTS ARE. Take family photos with grandparents included. This is a day you cannot go back and recapture. I ended up with zero professional family wedding pictures for my keepsake. I gathered a few good ones from the guest.
Grooms family got ripped off. Brides family is happy.

Children are losing communication skills due to this electronic era.

Children would rather text than talk.

Children know very crafty ways to trick their parents using cell phones. (current location etc.)

Parents don't need more easy parenting.

Parents need to build trust with their children as opposed to using a cell phone like an ankle bracelet.

Stop taking the easy way out of everything. Shortcuts get us lost. I told my children that when they are responsible enough to purchase their own cell phones they can have one. My kids are extremely well behaved and happy even without cell phones. The only problem I had is that my son once stole $60 complaining that he wanted an IPad and cell phone he said he wanted to live like every other kid. I handled this by taking him to the ghetto where I grew up. I let him live with my aunt for the summer. He hasn't had a disciplinary problem since. He learned that asking for what other kids have is a double edge sword after living with children that have nothing.

I also showed him pictures of starving kids around the world because in the end.... Would a cell phone make one of those kids life Better?
